In Sekolah Harapan Prestasi, the  teaching methods that Miss Ellie used are mostly student-based. Since the ages of the children she teaches are 7 and 8. Here are the methods and strategies :

  • Problem-solving ; this technique is a child-centered teaching style that emphasizes active learning and critical thinking skills. It entails presenting real-world challenges to students and directing them via collaboration, analysis, and critical thinking.

  • Audio-Visual; as we already know, there are multiple intelligences according to Gardner. Some learn best with audio-visual. She uses the projector and plays the audio that are connected to the lesson.

  • Differentiated Instruction : this helps her to focus in on individual requirements more carefully. She can better understand her students' talents and requirements by using tiered lessons. The school is inclusive, so she has one student with special needs. So she prints out actual pictures of her lesson and while the others are doing an activity, she goes to the special needs child and uses another strategy on him so he wouldn't be left behind.

  • Collaboration : this has been found to increase students' confidence and self-esteem while also developing higher-level thinking skills. By showcasing the information and enhancing social and interpersonal skills, group projects  maximizes educational experience. She loves letting the children do groupworks.

  •  Game-based : this blends game principles and features into learning sessions. Learning activities encourage student participation and excitement for learning. She always makes sure to make the lesson as engaging as possible. Not only in the beginning but all throughout the class.  She teaches children to be competitive but in a healthy way.

In Sekolah Harapan Prestasi, they use the Cambridge curriculum in teaching Math, Science and English.  They have a Teacher's guide where there are suggestions on how to teach a particular lesson. But it solely depends on the teach whether she follows that suggestion or not. From what I have observed, Miss ellie also loves using the Reward system. She has customized stamps and stickers that seem to have an effect on the 1st and 2nd grade learners. They behave so they could get rewarded by the end of the class, and they have to earn that reward.

Miss Ellie also uses the "Class Dojo" in this website you can :

Engage students with gamification features and class rewards,

Communicate with parents easily and regularly, collect and analyze data on student behavior and progress.
